Carnival of the Animals and Other Dances

Young and old will delight in Robert Gardner’s Carnival of the Animals from ponderous elephant to manic kangaroo, with masks created by Mary Plaster, the delightful Ogden Nash poem set to Camille Saint-Saëns music, and ringmaster narration by Pat Kelly.
And there’s Allen Fields’ elegantly athletic Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio No. 1 accompanied live by Alexander Sandor, Betsy Husby, and Penny Schwarze. The premiering “Scenes from a Supper Club,” by LilaAnn Coates White to the live music of the Twin Ports Wind Orchestra. And it wouldn’t be ballet without a romantic pas de deux, this one At Last, choreographed by Karl von Rabenau to the Etta James classic song.
