    The School of the Minnesota Ballet showcases its upper-level students as they demonstrate ballet, modern, jazz, tap, character (European folk dance), musical theater dance, and their own works in progress created during the choreography class. Highlighting the presentation will be special works by two guest teacher/choreographers.

    Igor Burlak
    , who studied at the School of American Ballet, is a faculty member at the Boston Ballet School and former member of such companies as the Minnesota Ballet. His visit is funded in part by the John T. and Elizabeth C. Adams Arts Fund of the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation.

    Marco Carreon, dance faculty member at California State University Dominguez Hills, directs its resident dance company MOSAIC. In March he taught in the North-Central Region American Dance Association Conference, held at UMD.

  • Emma Straton

    Emma Stratton

    Emma, a native of Austin, Texas, has done the majority of her training with Radenko Pavlovich. She pursued additional summer training on scholarship at the Harid Conservatory and the Kirov Academy. She was a Finalist at the World Ballet Competitions in 2010 and 2011, a Boston International Ballet Competition Finalist in 2011, a YAGP New York Finalist in 2012, and a YAGP Top 12 Regional Finalist in 2011 and 2012. In 2012 she received honorable mention in the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts’ YoungArts competition. From 2012-2014, Emma was a member the Colorado Ballet studio company, where she performed roles in Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella, among others. From 2014 to 2016, she was a member of Columbia Classical Ballet in South Carolina and performed roles such as Pas de Trois and Pas de Quatre in Swan Lake, “Waltz of the Snowflakes” Pas and Arabian in The Nutcracker, and Diana and Acteon in La Esmeralda. Emma performed the role of Belle in Charleston City Ballet’s Beauty and the Beast as a part of the Piccolo Spoleto festival in 2015 and has been invited to perform as a guest artist and in galas across the southeast.
