Payton began her training at the age of six under Christina Hampton of Arizona Youth Ballet in Gilbert, Arizona, and has trained with Ms. Hampton her entire student years. She has also had the opportunity to work for a short time under Slawomir Wozniak of Master Ballet Academy [Scottsdale, Arizona]. Throughout her time as a student, she has had the privilege to perform roles such as Clara, Bon Bon Fairy, Lead Marzipan, Dew Drop Fairy, and Snow Queen in The Nutcracker; Little Red Riding Hood and the Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty; the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella; Myrta in Giselle; and Swanilda in Coppélia. Payton also competed in the Youth America Grand Prix in 2014 and 2015, placing in the Top 24 Senior Classical Division both years. In addition to her instruction under Ms. Hampton, Payton has received several partial-tuition and full-tuition scholarships to many summer programs and has attended summer courses at American Ballet Theatre, Ballet Met, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, and Milwaukee Ballet. She is very excited to begin her first season dancing professionally with Minnesota Ballet.
