Dress Code

Creative Movement: student choice of leotard
ballet tights and ballet shoes recommended

All ballet students must follow the assigned dress code at all times. Male ballet students must wear black tights, black technique shoes, and a plain white T-shirt. All female ballet students must wear pink tights and technique shoes, leotard in the color and style of their class level, and their hair in a neat bun.

All classwear is available in dancewear catalogs and may be ordered from Grand Jetι, St. Paul, 651-227-0331.

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Robert Gardner
trained at the North Carolina School of the Arts and the School of American Ballet. He danced with the Joffrey Ballet, Eglevsky Ballet, and Cleveland San Jose Ballet. He has taught nationally and internationally, including at the School of the Cleveland Ballet and Lou Conte Dance Studios in Chicago, and taught master classes at the Columbus [Ohio] Youth Ballet, Ball State [Indiana] Dance Theatre, the Shreveport [Louisiana] Metropolitan Ballet, University of Minnesota, and others.

LilaAnn Coates White, Minnesota Ballet Principal Teacher, trained at the National Academy of Arts, Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. She apprenticed with the Des Moines Ballet, taught at the Allegro Dance Theatre, Tennessee, and is an assistant professor of dance at the University of Minnesota Duluth. She was a company member of the Minnesota Ballet from 1986–93.

Suzie Baer, School of the Minnesota Ballet graduate and teacher, was promoted from Senior Apprentice to full company member in the 2009–10 season. While a student, she served as an assistant with the Creative Dance class, which she now teaches.

Linda Carrillo, teacher, School of the Minnesota Ballet, trained at the University of Utah, Ballet West in Salt Lake City, and the Joffrey Ballet in New York. She also performed and toured with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.

Suzanne Kritzberg, Minnesota Ballet company member and teacher since 1991, trained at Ruth Page, the Houston Ballet Academy, and the Pacific Northwest Ballet School. For the Minnesota Ballet, she has danced more than fifty roles; she received a McKnight Artist Fellowship.

Elyse Snider, teacher, School of the Minnesota Ballet, holds a B.A. in acting and direction and a minor in dance from Barat College, Lake Forest, Illinois. She performed with the Chicago-area modern and jazz company 98.6 Degrees Fahrenheit Dance Company. In Madison, Wisconsin, she danced and taught for Kanope Dance Company and taught for the Movement in Your World program at the Madison Ballet.

Ramona Treuer, a Duluth native, graduate of the Ballet’s school and apprentice dancer for the company in the 1992–93 season, has been teaching for the Ballet since 1991. She has also danced with Shelter Repertory Dance Theatre and in Dances on the Lakewalk in both Duluth and at Lake Harriet.

Erin Wourms, teacher and graduate of the Ballet’s school, danced as an apprentice for a year and then four years as a company member in such featured roles as Marie in The Nutcracker and as Giselle.

Nikolaus Wourms, Minnesota Ballet company member and teacher, graduated from the School of the Minnesota Ballet, served as apprentice, and then has served as company member for five seasons, dancing such featured roles as the Prince in The Nutcracker and Albrecht in Giselle Act II.

Renee Moe Salyards, teacher, School of the Minnesota Ballet, founded Sterling Dance in Grand Marais in 1994. She studied dance at UMD and in New York City. She has choreographed for the Walker Art Center, Dances on the Lakewalk, Young Dance, and the Fringe Festival. She has danced Ressl Dance, Project Lulu, and Keane Sense of Rhythm Tap Company.
